Ogun 2027: Abayomi Olusesi Backs Yayi, Urges Ogun Voters to Support APC Candidate

Mr Abayomi Olusesi, a United Kingdom-based member of the All Progressives Congress, APC, has thrown his weight behind the party’s 2027 governorship candidate in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, urging residents to unite behind his candidacy.
Mr Olusesi, whose father, Alhaji Surajudeen Adesoji Olusesi, served Ogun State in various capacities, described Adeola’s emergence as a significant moment in the state’s political history and expressed confidence that his administration would promote inclusive development across the state.
Speaking with newsheadline247, Mr Olusesi said the 2027 governorship election offered Ogun residents an opportunity to make a decision that would shape the state’s political and economic future.
He said Adeola’s emergence was not only significant for Ogun West Senatorial District but also presented an opportunity to address what he described as decades of imbalance in political leadership and the distribution of development across the state.

“For over five decades since the creation of Ogun State, Ogun West has never had the privilege of producing a governor. Senator Solomon Adeola Yayi’s emergence offers the state a rare opportunity to write a new chapter built on fairness, inclusion and transformational leadership,” he said.
Mr Olusesi said Senator Adeola’s legislative experience, political exposure and grassroots appeal positioned him to reposition Ogun State as a major economic destination.
“I have absolute confidence that Senator Yayi will deliver the kind of governance that prioritises infrastructure, creates jobs, attracts investments and restores hope to our people. His administration will not only uplift Ogun West but will bring balanced development to every part of Ogun State,” he said.
He identified improved road infrastructure, job creation and industrial expansion as key expectations in Ogun West, particularly in Ota and Agbara, which he described as important economic centres.
“One of the biggest expectations of the people is the revival of our industrial corridors. Ota and Agbara should once again become thriving centres for manufacturing, investment and employment. I believe Yayi has both the vision and capacity to make that happen,” Olusesi added.
Mr Olusesi urged voters in Ogun Central, Ogun East and Ogun West to look beyond senatorial interests and support what he described as a common development agenda for the state.
“This is not about one senatorial district; it is about the future of Ogun State. It is time for every indigene and resident to come together behind a common vision of progress, prosperity and good governance. The moment calls for unity, not division,” he said.
Mr Olusesi also called on APC supporters and eligible voters to give the party overwhelming support in the 2027 elections, saying a strong mandate would enable the incoming administration to pursue its development agenda with greater confidence.
He further declared his support for the re-election of President Bola Tinubu, arguing that the administration’s economic reforms, despite their short-term difficulties, were aimed at laying the foundation for long-term growth and stability.
“President Tinubu has demonstrated uncommon courage by implementing reforms that previous administrations avoided. These policies are designed to rebuild the economy, strengthen institutions and create sustainable opportunities for future generations. I believe history will judge these decisions kindly,” he said.
Mr Olusesi urged Nigerians to remain patient and supportive of the Federal Government’s economic policies, saying sustained commitment was necessary to achieve meaningful recovery.
“We must continue to support policies that will reposition Nigeria among the world’s leading economies. Difficult decisions are sometimes necessary to secure lasting prosperity, and I believe President Tinubu is committed to delivering a better future for all Nigerians,” he said.
