This year’s edition of Ariya Eko Music Festival organised by Evergreen Musical Company will take place at Lagos City Hall on Sunday, 15th of December.
It is scheduled to continue the narratives on music yesterday, today and tomorrow. Mrs. Bimbo Esho, Chief Executive Officer of Evergreen disclosed this today at a chit-chat session with practitioners, journalists and fans of music at O’Jez Chinese Restaurant, National Stadium, Lagos.
The session was also graced by Chief Commander Ebenezer Obey who is to be be inducted into the Evergreen Hall of Fame, Tee-Mac, former President of Performing Musicians Association of Nigeria ( PMAN ), Mrs. O. Simpson of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism representing Lagos State Government, Ara, Sola Vibrator and Mr. Majekodunmi, a foremost club owner in the State, Jazzville. Mrs. Esho said that the Festival will be a vehicle to link Lagosians back with the good old days of music with Social Values.
She also heaved encomium on Obey Commander for his enviable status of the highest recording music artiste in Africa with Six hundred and Sixty records to his credit. Ebenezer Obey in his remarks praised the organizers of the annual event as major contributors to the revival of ” old school blended with new vibes musical culture in Nigeria”.
He stated that ” despite my tight schedule, I am flexible and always willing to collaborate with any artist as I have done with Ara in Olomi Gbo Temi oo”.
Tee-Mac told the gathering that Music is a total creation of Africa as human history and civilisation began from the continent over five thousand years ago In Egypt. He said music is an instrument for social and economic development.
The Ariya Eko Music Festival will feature vintage Apala, Sakara, Juju, Agidigbo and HighLife music. Tunji Oyelana, Obesere, Shina Peters, Tu-Face and others will thrill guests at the festival#
