The Lagos State Police Command says Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, on Monday morning, turned himself in at the State headquarters, Ikeja, following an alleged assault of a police officer last week.

A video gone viral on social media, Saturday night, captured the musician who was assaulting a police officer in uniform.

Subsequently, the Inspector-General of Police, Usman Baba, ordered Kuti’s immediate arrest over the incident.

The Lagos State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Benjamin Hundeyin, in a statement made available to newsheadline247, informed that Seun Kuti turned himself in at the state police command in company of his lawyer and family representative adding that “he has been placed under arrest in line with the law.”

The police also assured the public that “the investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.”

SERIOUS ASSAULT ON POLICE OFFICER: SEUN KUTI TURNS SELF IN

Afrobeat musician, Seun Kuti, in the early hours of today turned himself in at the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, Ikeja, in company of his lawyer and family representative.  He has been placed under arrest in line with the law.

The Command appreciates the public for their concern and assures that the ongoing investigation will be detailed, transparent, professionally pursued; and justice will be manifestly served for all parties involved.
