The Lagos State Internal Revenue Service will hold a summit with stakeholders in the revenue collection system in the local government Tuesday.
The summit will address the operations of the local government revenue committees, efficient revenue collection in the informal sector and collaborating between the LIRS and local governments to harmonise taxes for taxpayers’ convenience.
LIRS Chairman, Mr.Ayo Subair will give the keynote address.
Other lead presenters at the summit are Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Local Government & Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs.Kikelomo Abolarin, LIRS Director, Informal Taxation & Special Duties, Ms Folashade Coker and LIRS Revenue Manager, Mr.Segun Tijani.
The brainstorming session will feature Chairman of the Association of Local Governments of Nigeria, Hon.Kolade Alabi, Chairman of the Local Government Service Commission, Hon Kamal Baiyewu, Chairman of the Committee of Council Managers, Mr. S.A Olujobi, Chairman of Committee of Council Treasurers, Mr.A.A.Adebiyi Chairman, Committee of Human Resources Officers, Mr.Isiaka Ijaile and Chairman of Local Government Revenue Committees.
The summit, which holds at Osun Hall of the Lagos Airport Hotel, Ikeja is strictly by invitation.
According to a press statement by Kehinde Bamigbetan, Lead Consultant, Korki & Associates, the event builds on the achievements of the seminar on professionalising the revenue functions in local governments also sponsored by the LIRS on November 4, last year.
