OPCCIMA set for formal inauguration, Urges Government Action on Security, Business Climate

The official inauguration of OPCCIMA is scheduled for Tuesday, September 12, 2024, at the Olota of Ota Palace Hall in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State

Dr. Kayode Bowale, the President of the Ota Parapo Chamber of Commerce, Industry, Mines and Agriculture (OPCCIMA), has urged Nigerian governments at all levels to adopt a pragmatic approach to addressing the country’s security challenges. He emphasized that a transparent and sincere government is crucial for fostering a conducive environment for business growth and advancing the nation’s progress.

Speaking at a press conference on Monday at the Chamber’s Commerce House located at Oba T.T Dada Market in Ota, Ogun State, Dr. Bowale called for a comprehensive crackdown on business-related crimes and other forms of insecurity to ensure a thriving business environment and a peaceful society.

Dr. Bowale highlighted OPCCIMA’s collaboration with the Ogun State Government to tackle various business challenges, including insecurity, natural disasters, climate change, and socio-economic and political issues affecting countries globally.

The event, themed “Enhancing Business Sustainability in a Turbulent Environment,” will take place at the multipurpose Olota Hall.

During the press conference, Dr. Bowale elaborated on OPCCIMA’s mission to boost economic and commercial activities within Ota and surrounding communities.

He noted that the Federal Government’s border closures aim to protect local manufacturers and promote industrial growth, particularly given the rise in border-related criminal activities.

He also urged the government to consider subsidizing certain goods to ease citizens’ costs of living and to work closely with relevant agencies and community leaders on policy formulation through advocacy efforts.

Dr. Bowale stressed the need for the government to involve the Chamber of Commerce more in policy development and implementation and to leverage research from educational institutions to drive innovation and improve the quality of locally produced goods. …Continue Reading
