64th Independence Day: Agemo-Okuboyejo Sends Message of Hope, Congratulates Nigerians

“Our future lies in our hands. We must stand firm in selecting leaders who are genuinely dedicated to serving the public, not ruling over it”

As Nigerians mark the nation’s 64th Independence anniversary today, October 1st, 2024, Ogun State philanthropist and politician, Engr. Temitayo Agemo-Okuboyejo, has extended a message of hope to citizens, particularly to the people of Ogun State, as the country faces significant economic challenges.

In a statement released to newsheadline247, Mrs. Agemo-Okuboyejo expressed her concern over the current economic hardships affecting Nigerians, especially the elderly and vulnerable populations throughout the nation.

“While this important day typically serves as a time for reflection and a tribute to the sacrifices, courage, and unwavering determination of our nation’s past heroes, it has increasingly become a day of lamentation over the struggles of our people. These struggles are largely due to successive ineffective governance and unfriendly policies that have hindered our progress since gaining independence,” she stated.

She urged citizens to remain committed to exercising their voting rights during elections. “Taking part in the electoral process by casting your vote with the intent to choose the right leaders is the only way to navigate the challenges that Nigeria currently faces,” she emphasized.

Mrs. Agemo-Okuboyejo further asserted, “Our future lies in our hands. We must stand firm in selecting leaders who are genuinely dedicated to serving the public, not ruling over it—individuals who have sincere plans for our welfare, the future of our children, and the promise of a better tomorrow.”

In conclusion, she congratulated all Nigerians on this historic occasion, stating, “I congratulate every citizen of Nigeria, especially those in Ogun State and my local government area of Ado-Odo/Ota. Wishing you all a joyful green-white-green celebration.” …Continue Reading
