Independence Day: Tinubu Hails Soldiers’ ‘Blood and Sweat’ as Nigeria Wins War on Terror, Banditry

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu used his Independence Day speech to pay glowing tribute to Nigeria’s armed forces, declaring that their sacrifices are winning the fight against terrorism, banditry, and violent crime.

“The officers and men of our armed forces and other security agencies are working tirelessly and making significant sacrifices to keep us safe,” the President said. “We see their victories in their blood and sweat to stamp out Boko Haram in the North-East, IPOB/ESN terror in the South-East, and banditry and kidnapping across the country.”

Tinubu noted that peace is returning to hundreds of liberated communities, especially in the North-East and North-West, where thousands of displaced Nigerians have returned home.

He praised the “uncommon courage” of the military, insisting that Nigerians owe them gratitude for preventing total collapse. “We must continue to celebrate their gallantry and salute their courage on behalf of a grateful nation,” he said.

The President’s remarks come amid reported gains against insurgents, with recent military offensives dismantling terrorist hideouts and disrupting bandit camps. He reassured Nigerians that his administration is fully committed to sustaining these victories.
