Olota Elevates Waliu Jide Ojuko to Olotu of Ota as Itimoko Family Hails Historic Recognition
The Olota of Ota, His Majesty, Oba (Prof.) AbduKabir Adeyemi Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II, has graciously elevated Chief Waliu Olajide Ojuko from his long-held chieftaincy title of Sobaloju of Ota to the exalted and historically revered position of Olotu of Ota.
With this elevation, Chief Ojuko succeeds his late father, R.S.O. Ojolowo, as the patriarch of the illustrious Ojolowo–Ojuko dynasty, marking a generational continuity in Ota’s traditional leadership.
According to the palace, a formal installation ceremony will be announced soon.
In his heartfelt appreciation, Chief Ojuko expressed deep gratitude to the monarch for the honour bestowed upon him and pledged unwavering loyalty to the stool of Ota and the unity of the Awori Kingdom.
“I remain profoundly grateful to our revered monarch, Kabiyesi Olota of Ota, for this exceptional honour and confidence reposed in me. I will continue to serve Ota with dedication, promoting progress, peace, and unity across our beloved kingdom,” he said.
Chief Ojuko also extended his congratulations to Chief Solomon Bankole, newly installed as the Sobaloju of Ota, praying for his success and impactful tenure.
“May your reign bring progress, peace, and massive development to Ota and the entire Awori Kingdom,” he added.
A respected businessman and seasoned politician, Chief Waliu Jide Ojuko has served the Ogun State Government twice as Commissioner and remains a symbol of humility and community leadership. He was first installed as Sobaloju of Ota in 1988 by the late Oba Timothy Talabi Dada, at a grand ceremony graced by eminent personalities, including Chief Olusegun Osoba, Late Chief (Mrs.) Titi Ajanaku, and Dr. Femi Majekodunmi, with Sir Shina Peters serenading guests in a memorable performance.
For over three decades, Chief Ojuko held the Sobaloju title with honour and dignity before his elevation to Olotu of Ota — a position that places him among the foremost traditional chiefs in the Awori Kingdom.
Itimoko Family’s Message of Pride and Joy
In a separate statement, the Itimoko Family of Ota extended their warm felicitations to the newly elevated Olotu of Ota, describing the honour as “a glorious milestone and a richly deserved recognition of lifelong dedication to culture, leadership, and service.”
“Chief Ojuko stands as a man of noble pedigree, a consummate leader, a custodian of culture, and a paragon of humility,” the family stated. “His elevation is not a mere decoration of honour but a recognition of his steadfast devotion to community service and traditional upliftment.”
The family further praised Chief Ojuko for embodying the virtues of the kingdom’s forebears and for reinforcing Ota’s collective pride.
“Your ascension rekindles our collective hope and stands as a symbol of reward for unwavering dedication, visionary leadership, and unblemished service to humanity,” the statement added.
They prayed that the Almighty and the ancestors of Ota would continue to bless the new Olotu with wisdom, strength, and longevity to steer his office with distinction and dignity.
Chief Waliu Jide Ojuko’s elevation is more than a personal honour — it symbolizes the continuity of legacy, integrity, and community stewardship that defines Ota’s traditional institution.
