President Sends Shettima-Led FG Delegation to Kebbi as Tinubu Orders Swift Rescue of Abducted Schoolgirl

Vice President Kashim Shettima is expected in Kebbi State today to deliver a message of solidarity and reassurance from the Federal Government to families of the schoolgirls abducted in Danko-Wasagu Local Government Area.

The visit comes as President Bola Ahmed Tinubu reiterated his directive to security agencies to act swiftly in rescuing the pupils of Government Girls’ Comprehensive Senior Secondary School, Maga, who were seized by bandits in a violent attack earlier this week.

In a statement issued by Presidential Spokesman Bayo Onanuga on Tuesday, President Tinubu assured Nigerians that no effort would be spared in bringing the abducted pupils back alive.

The President said he had received full briefings from the military on both the Kebbi abductions and the separate killing of soldiers in Borno State.

“As Commander-in-Chief, I am depressed by the tragic death of our officers on active duty.
May God comfort the families of Brigadier-General Musa Uba and other fallen heroes,”
he said.

Tinubu also praised Kebbi State Governor Nasir Idris for taking preemptive actions to forestall the attack, stating that the state government had acted on prior intelligence indicating suspicious bandit movement around the area.

Despite those efforts, the attackers still managed to breach the school, killing the vice principal and abducting 25 pupils — an incident the President described as a “cruel disruption of the education of innocent girls.”

The President appealed to residents in vulnerable communities to intensify cooperation with security forces, stressing that early warnings often make the difference between foiled attacks and tragedies.

“Our forces cannot succeed without the cooperation of the people. Timely information is crucial,” Tinubu added.

He reiterated that school security would remain a top priority for his administration, especially as the country continues to grapple with recurring attacks on educational institutions. Read More
