Relief in Kwara as 38 Kidnapped CAC Worshippers Regain Freedom — Gov AbdulRazaq Praises Tinubu’s Direct Intervention

There was jubilation across Kwara State on Sunday as 38 abducted worshippers of the Christ Apostolic Church (CAC), Eruku, in Ekiti Local Government Area, finally regained freedom after days of intense security operations.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, in a statement issued by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, announced the safe release of the victims, describing the development as “a major relief for the state and a testament to President Bola Tinubu’s hands-on leadership.”

The worshippers were abducted during an attack on the church early last week, triggering widespread anxiety and prompting a multi-agency rescue operation.

Governor AbdulRazaq said the success of the operation was largely due to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s personal involvement and decisive directives.

“This rescue is wholly due to President Tinubu’s hands-on approach. He personally led the efforts and ensured that the abductees returned home safely,” the Governor said.

According to the statement, the President had suspended his scheduled trip to South Africa for the G20 Meeting, choosing instead to prioritize the security breaches in Kwara and Kebbi States. He also ordered increased security deployment to Kwara to ensure the victims’ safe return.

The Governor expressed deep appreciation to the security agencies whose coordinated work led to the release of the abducted worshippers.

Those acknowledged include, Office of the National Security Adviser (ONSA), Department of State Services (DSS), Nigerian Army, Nigeria Intelligence Agency (NIA) and Nigeria Police Force, which deployed four tactical teams to the state on the President’s directive

AbdulRazaq also extended gratitude to traditional rulers, religious bodies, community leaders, and residents of the state for their support during the tense period.

“We thank all security forces, thought leaders, religious institutions, and the good people of Kwara for standing firm with us. Their goodwill and cooperation made a great difference,” he said.

Families of the worshippers described the news as an answered prayer, bringing hope after days of uncertainty and fear. Security forces continue operations in the region to prevent further attacks and ensure long-term stability. Read More
