The Olori Oloruntoyin Obalanlege Initiative has hosted a transformative youth empowerment seminar for secondary school students in Ado-Odo/Ota, featuring a powerful talk on peer pressure by UK-based healthcare professional Erelu Adebola Taiwo Ogunde

In a renewed push to nurture better futures for young people in Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, the Olori Oloruntoyin Obalanlege Initiative has held a transformative youth empowerment seminar for secondary school students across the region.

The impactful one-day event, which took place at Iganmode Grammar School, Ota, drew enthusiastic participation from students eager to broaden their perspectives and gain valuable knowledge to guide their personal development.

A major highlight of the seminar was the keynote presentation delivered by Erelu Adebola Taiwo Ogunde, the Erelu Obatunwase of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom. A respected healthcare professional based in the United Kingdom, Erelu Adebola held the students spellbound with an engaging and interactive session on the critical theme: “Peer Pressure.”

Speaking passionately, she broke down how peer influence—positive or negative—shapes the choices young people make daily.

According to her, “Peer pressure is that unseen push from friends and age-mates—sometimes soft, sometimes intense. It can motivate you to be better, work harder, and make wise choices, or it can steer you toward decisions that endanger your future.”

Her message struck a chord with the students, who actively participated in discussions on self-confidence, decision-making, and the importance of choosing friendships that inspire growth rather than derail ambition.

In a statement made available to Newsheadline247, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, Principal Secretary to His Majesty, the Olota of the Ancient and Paramount Ottaland, Awori Kingdom, described Olori’s commitment to youth development as “a rare mother care”.

He noted that the initiative—spearheaded by Olori Oloruntoyin Obalanlege (Olori Olota)—continues to champion community transformation through education, mentorship, and social empowerment.

“The initiative, graciously led by our revered mother, Olori Oloruntoyin Obalanlege, remains committed to meaningful impact—especially in supporting the educational and social growth of young people whenever the opportunity arises,” Olusesi stated.

The seminar concluded with applause and words of encouragement for all participating students, many of whom expressed gratitude for the rare opportunity to learn from experienced community leaders and role models.
