Entrepreneur and social media personality Sophia Momodu, the first baby mama of Nigerian music star Davido, has cautioned fans against addressing her as the singer’s wife, stressing that such references are inaccurate and disrespectful.
Speaking in a video broadcast, Momodu revealed that despite her breakup with Davido many years ago—and his subsequent marriage—some fans still refer to her as his wife during encounters.
She expressed displeasure over the trend, emphasising the need for people to respect personal boundaries, individual choices, and existing marriages.
According to her, she has long moved on from the relationship and expects fans to do the same.
“I once met a content creator who started hailing me as ‘Mama Imade, OBO [Davido’s] wife’ upon seeing me. I was shocked because I am not his wife,” she said.
Momodu urged the public to be mindful of how they label people, noting that such comments can be uncomfortable and misleading.
“Stop referring to me as Davido’s wife. Let’s respect people’s marriages and rules. If people have moved on, allow them to move on in peace,” she added.
