Portable Freed from Prison After Week in Custody: “They Lied Against Me, I’m Innocent”
Controversial Nigerian singer Portable has been released from prison custody after fulfilling his bail conditions on Monday, January 19, 2026.
In a now-viral video circulating on social media, the singer appeared emotional and defiant, proclaiming his innocence amid the high-profile legal drama.
“They lied against me. I’m innocent,” Portable declared in the trending clip.
The saga began on New Year’s Eve when a video went viral showing a heated confrontation between Portable and his baby mama, Ashabi Simple. In the footage, Ashabi is seen holding onto his clothes while saying, “Pami baby” (Baby you have to kill me), escalating public attention.
Following the incident, Ashabi and her siblings reported Portable to the police, accusing him of assault and theft of their vehicle. He was subsequently arrested.
Last Monday, Portable was arraigned before the Federal High Court in Ota, Ogun State, on a nine-count criminal charge that included theft, causing harm, assault, and resisting arrest.
The presiding judge denied bail at the initial hearing and ordered the singer remanded in prison custody, adjourning the case for a fresh bail hearing on January 19, 2026.
After spending exactly one week behind bars, Portable met the court’s bail requirements and was released.
The case continues to generate buzz online, with fans and critics divided over the allegations and the singer’s claims of being falsely accused. Further court proceedings are expected as the matter progresses.
