The approvals target high-priority diplomatic posts: France, the United States, the United Kingdom, and Turkey—where Tinubu is set to embark on a state visit next week.

In a memo to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the President directed the ministry to formally notify the host governments in line with standard diplomatic protocols.

The postings are as follows:

  • Ambassador Ayodele Oke — Ambassador-designate to France
  • Colonel Lateef Are (former DSS Director-General) — Ambassador-designate to the United States of America
  • Ambassador Amin Dalhatu (former envoy to South Korea) — High Commissioner-designate to the United Kingdom
  • Usman Isa Dakingari Suleiman (former Governor of Kebbi State) — Ambassador-designate to Turkey

Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, highlighted the significance of these appointments in a statement: “These postings reflect the administration’s commitment to strengthening Nigeria’s diplomatic engagement worldwide.”

The move addresses longstanding gaps in Nigeria’s representation in major capitals and economic partners, bolstering bilateral ties, trade, security cooperation, and investment opportunities. The Turkey posting is particularly timely, aligning with the President’s upcoming state visit aimed at deepening economic and strategic relations.

This deployment signals the Tinubu administration’s proactive push to revitalize Nigeria’s foreign policy footprint on the global stage. Read More
