Nigeria’s Minister of Defence, Christopher Musa, has emphasised that integrity, accountability, and commitment remain essential pillars for nation-building.
The minister stated that Nigeria’s progress depends largely on citizens who are willing to deploy their expertise while upholding strong moral values.
Musa made this known at the graduation ceremony of the Air Force Institute of Technology in Kaduna on Saturday.
Represented by the Permanent Secretary, Richard Pheelangwah, the minister commended the academic achievements of the 3,003 graduating students, urging them to embrace patriotism, innovation, and excellence as they step into the next phase of their lives.
He noted that the graduates were not just leaving with certificates but as custodians of national responsibility, equipped with the skills and knowledge needed to tackle Nigeria’s evolving challenges.
“Nation-building requires integrity, accountability, and commitment from all citizens. Nigeria’s progress depends on individuals willing to apply their expertise with strong moral values,” Musa said.
Highlighting the role of AFIT, the minister described the institution as a centre of excellence in technological education and professional training, noting its continued contribution to producing highly skilled manpower in science, technology, and innovation.
He further urged the graduates to convert their academic knowledge into practical solutions that will drive national development, stressing that true patriotism is reflected through discipline, excellence, and selfless service.
In his remarks, the Chief of Air Staff, Sunday Kelvin Aneke, who also serves as Chairman of the AFIT Governing Council, conferred degrees, diplomas, and certificates on the graduating students.
Meanwhile, the Commandant of AFIT, A.K. Ademuwagun, expressed gratitude for the continued support of the Nigerian Air Force and other stakeholders, reaffirming the institute’s commitment to producing disciplined and highly skilled professionals for national development.
