Osun APC Leader Urges Calm Amid Security Challenges, Backs Tinubu’s Crackdown on Terrorists

A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress in Osun State, Hon. Olatunbosun Oyintiloye, has called on Nigerians to remain calm and continue supporting the Federal Government and security agencies in the ongoing fight against insecurity.

Speaking in a statement issued to journalists on Sunday, Oyintiloye expressed optimism that the country’s security challenges would soon become a thing of the past if all stakeholders work together to support ongoing efforts.

According to him, the Federal Government is intensifying measures to combat criminal activities and safeguard lives and property across the nation.

He said the government is deeply worried about the prevailing security situation and is taking decisive steps to bring an end to terrorism, kidnapping and other forms of criminality.

The former lawmaker pointed to President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s Democracy Day address, in which the President declared zero tolerance for terrorists and their collaborators, as evidence of the administration’s determination to restore peace and security.

Oyintiloye noted that the President’s ultimatum to bandits, kidnappers and sponsors of terrorism to surrender or face the full weight of the law indicates that criminal elements are running out of time.

“We share the pain of parents, families and relatives of victims affected by mass abductions, especially schoolchildren, and the continued killings by terrorists. It is a painful and tragic situation that no family should experience,” he said.

Despite the challenges, he urged Nigerians not to lose hope, stressing that security and intelligence agencies are working tirelessly to rescue victims and bring perpetrators to justice.

“No criminal element will be allowed to undermine the peace and stability of the nation. The government is doing everything within its power to secure the release of abducted victims and end the senseless killings across the country,” he added.

Oyintiloye also expressed confidence in the professionalism and capacity of Nigeria’s security personnel to flush out criminal elements and restore lasting peace.

He advised the nation’s service chiefs to review and adjust their operational strategies where necessary, stressing that urgent action is required to address the security situation.

The APC chieftain further called on state governors to complement the President’s efforts by providing adequate support and resources to security agencies operating within their states.

While acknowledging the President’s constitutional role as the nation’s Chief Security Officer, he maintained that governors and local government chairmen are closer to the grassroots and should strengthen local intelligence gathering and community policing initiatives.

He emphasised that meaningful development cannot thrive in an atmosphere of insecurity, noting that economic growth, infrastructure development, investment and social services flourish only in a peaceful environment.

“A nation with a strong and effective security system is better positioned for accelerated development, economic prosperity and sustainable social services,” he said.

Oyintiloye urged citizens to remain vigilant, cooperate with security agencies by providing useful information and continue to pray for peace, unity and progress in the country.
