Preparations have gathered momentum for the grand celebration of the 60th birthday of the Olota of Ota and Paramount Ruler of Ottaland, Oba Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, with organisers announcing that legendary Fuji musician, King Wasiu Ayinde Marshal, popularly known as KWAM 1, will headline the entertainment at the highly anticipated grand reception.
The royal celebration, which is already generating excitement across Aworiland and beyond, is expected to bring together an impressive array of political leaders, traditional rulers, captains of industry, distinguished public servants and prominent sons and daughters of the Awori Kingdom in honour of the revered monarch.
Confirming the development, the Principal Secretary to the Olota, Prince Adeyemi Sulaimon Olusesi, disclosed that the festivities would climax with a grand reception scheduled for Friday, August 28, 2026, where the Fuji icon will take centre stage.
“The festivities will culminate in a Grand Reception on Friday, 28th August 2026, with KWAM 1 on the band stand,” Olusesi said in a statement made available to Newsheadline247.
The event is expected to serve as a fitting tribute to the monarch, whose reign has been marked by efforts to promote peace, cultural preservation and development across the ancient kingdom. Guests expected at the celebration include some of Nigeria’s most influential political and traditional figures.
Vice President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, is billed to attend as the Special Guest of Honour and Chairman of the Occasion, while former President Olusegun Obasanjo will serve as Father of the Day.
Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has been named Chief Host of the event, while Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi and representing Ogun West Senatorial District, will serve as Host.
Adding further prestige to the occasion, the Ooni of Ife, His Imperial Majesty Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, Ojaja II, will attend as the Royal Father of the Day and Chairman-at-Large.
The Diamond Jubilee celebration of Oba Professor Adeyemi AbdulKabir Obalanlege, Lanlege Ekun II, is expected to be more than a birthday commemoration. Organisers say it will provide an opportunity to celebrate the remarkable contributions of the monarch to the growth of Ota, the enduring cultural heritage of the Awori people and the unity and progress that have defined the ancient and paramount Ottaland under his leadership.
With a blend of royalty, politics, culture and entertainment, the celebration is shaping up to be one of the biggest royal gatherings in Nigeria in 2026, with KWAM 1’s performance expected to provide a memorable climax to a historic occasion.
