The governorship candidate of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Ogun State, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Yayi, has praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s economic reforms, describing them as decisive measures that prevented Nigeria’s economy from collapsing and positioned the country for sustainable growth.
Adeola made the remarks on Tuesday while receiving leaders and stakeholders of the Arewa Community from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State at his constituency office in Ilaro. The delegation used the visit to declare its support for his governorship ambition.
According to a statement, the senator commended Tinubu for demonstrating bold leadership by implementing critical economic reforms despite the initial hardship experienced by Nigerians.
He identified the removal of fuel subsidy, deregulation of the downstream petroleum sector, and the unification of the foreign exchange market as landmark policies that have stabilised the economy and renewed investor confidence.
Adeola argued that the reforms addressed long-standing structural challenges that had hindered Nigeria’s economic growth for decades.
According to him, President Tinubu made difficult but necessary decisions to rescue the country’s economy from the brink of collapse and establish a foundation for long-term development.
The senator also credited the Federal Government’s monetary and tax reforms with strengthening Nigeria’s economic recovery and creating a framework for sustainable fiscal stability.
While acknowledging the hardship many Nigerians faced following the implementation of the policies, Adeola maintained that the temporary sacrifices were necessary to rebuild the economy and secure lasting prosperity.
He said the country was already beginning to witness the positive impact of the reforms, describing them as Nigeria’s “saving grace.”
Adeola urged members of the Arewa Community to continue supporting the Tinubu administration, stressing that sustained backing for the government’s economic agenda would consolidate the gains already recorded.
He also called on the community to mobilise support for the APC ahead of the 2027 general elections at both the federal and state levels, expressing confidence that continuity in governance would accelerate Nigeria’s development.
