FCMB Brings Together Health Leaders, Investors to Unlock Financing for Nigeria’s Healthcare Sector

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) will convene healthcare operators, financiers, investors, policymakers, development partners and industry leaders on July 28 for its inaugural Healthcare Summit as part of efforts to unlock financing and strengthen partnerships for sustainable growth in Nigeria’s healthcare sector.

The summit, themed “Financing Growth: Unlocking Opportunity, Building the Future of Healthcare,” is designed to drive conversations around innovative financing, strategic partnerships and capacity building needed to improve healthcare delivery and build resilient healthcare businesses across the country.

The Honourable Minister of State for Health, Dr. Iziaq Salako, is expected to deliver the keynote address, “The Future of Healthcare Financing in Nigeria,” setting the stage for discussions on the financing priorities, investment landscape and policy direction shaping the sector.

The event will feature keynote presentations, executive conversations and panel sessions focusing on access to capital, investment readiness, governance, partnerships and strategies for building sustainable healthcare businesses capable of meeting Nigeria’s growing healthcare needs.

Speaking ahead of the summit, FCMB Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Yemisi Edun, said strengthening the healthcare sector is critical to Nigeria’s economic development, stressing that sustainable healthcare delivery requires collaboration between the public and private sectors.

“A resilient healthcare system is fundamental to the wellbeing and productivity of every nation. At FCMB, we recognise that sustainable healthcare delivery requires more than clinical excellence. It also depends on access to appropriate financing, sound business management, strategic partnerships and long-term investment. The FCMB Healthcare Summit will bring key stakeholders together to exchange ideas, strengthen partnerships and identify practical approaches that can help healthcare businesses grow sustainably and improve healthcare outcomes for Nigerians.”

Edun said the bank remains committed to providing tailored financial solutions that enable healthcare providers to expand infrastructure, acquire modern medical equipment, strengthen working capital and improve operational efficiency.

According to FCMB, Nigeria’s healthcare sector continues to grapple with significant challenges, including inadequate infrastructure, rising operating costs, foreign exchange pressures, workforce shortages, weak governance structures and limited access to investment capital. The bank believes addressing these constraints will require stronger collaboration among healthcare providers, financial institutions, government agencies, investors and development partners.

As part of the programme, FCMB will host a dedicated “Financing Healthcare Growth” session to showcase financing solutions designed to support infrastructure expansion, equipment acquisition, digital transformation, working capital and long-term business growth for healthcare providers.

President of the Healthcare Federation of Nigeria, Mrs. Njide Ndili, will deliver an industry address titled “Building a Stronger Private Healthcare Sector: Leadership, Collaboration and Sustainable Financing for the Future.”

The summit will also feature panel discussions on “Unlocking Capital, Partnerships and Sustainable Growth in Nigeria’s Healthcare Sector” and “From Survival to Scale: Building Bankable Healthcare Businesses in Nigeria,” while an executive conversation titled “Building Healthcare Businesses That Attract Capital” will examine leadership, governance, investment readiness and sustainable growth.

FCMB said the summit is intended to move discussions beyond identifying the sector’s challenges by creating a platform for practical financing and partnership solutions that can accelerate sustainable healthcare development in Nigeria.

Health Business Academy for Africa will serve as the technical partner for the summit, providing strategic support and industry expertise. The organisation is recognised for strengthening leadership, business and institutional capacity across healthcare organisations on the continent.
