The National Association of Ogun State Students has praised Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman Lawal Adewale Wasiu for his developmental projects and sought partnership on its ‘Keep Ogun State Clean Initiative
Ogun Students Laud Ado-Odo/Ota LG Chairman, Push Statewide ‘Keep Ogun Clean’ Initiative
The National Association of Ogun State Students (NAOSS) has commended the Executive Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Hon. Lawal Adewale Wasiu, FCA, for what it described as the visible developmental strides recorded under his administration, while seeking the council’s partnership to drive a statewide environmental sanitation campaign.
The commendation came during a courtesy visit by the leadership of the association to the Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Secretariat in Ota.
The development was disclosed in a press statement issued on Tuesday, August 4, 2026, by the Chief Information and Public Relations Officer of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Alabi Sheriff, and made available to newsheadline247.
Leading the delegation, the National President of NAOSS, Comrade Olubodun Olalekan, said the visit was aimed at introducing the association’s flagship environmental campaign, the ‘Keep Ogun State Clean Initiative,’ which seeks to discourage indiscriminate dumping of refuse in marketplaces and other public spaces across the state.
Olalekan said the association was impressed by the projects executed by the Wasiu administration, stressing that stories of development deserved greater prominence than negative narratives about governments at the state and local levels.
According to him, “the visit was to intimate the Chairman of the association’s pet programme tagged ‘Keep Ogun State Clean Initiative’, a sensitization campaign aimed at discouraging indiscriminate dumping of refuse, particularly in market places and other public areas.”
He added that the association was encouraged by “the numerous projects executed by the Hon. Wasiu-led administration,” noting that “developmental stories should be projected more than negative narratives about the State and Local Governments.”
Also speaking, the Senate President of NAOSS, Comrade Ogunsan Joshua, called for collaboration with the local government to organise sensitisation and enlightenment programmes for pupils in public and private primary and secondary schools across the council area.
He said the initiative would expose young learners to government activities, emergency response channels and civic responsibilities while helping to combat misinformation about government institutions.
Responding, Hon. Wasiu appreciated the students for the visit and urged them to prepare themselves for leadership roles in the future, while encouraging them to become ambassadors of positive and development-focused narratives about Ogun State.
The council chairman also highlighted key achievements of his administration since assuming office and reaffirmed his government’s commitment to working with the association.
Hon. Wasiu assured the students that his administration was ready to partner with NAOSS on the ‘Keep Ogun State Clean Initiative’ through the Department of Water Supply and Environmental Sanitation. He also pledged support for the proposed school enlightenment programme, noting that the local government has direct oversight of primary education and remains committed to initiatives that promote environmental responsibility, civic awareness and community development
