Wike Reveals What Could Have Changed Osun Election Outcome for APC

Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has said the All Progressives Congress (APC) could have won the recent Osun State governorship election if President Bola Ahmed Tinubu had deployed the full political influence of the Federal Government.

Wike made the remarks while discussing the political situation ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, if President Tinubu had been determined to secure victory for the APC in Osun State “at all cost,” the outcome of the election could have been different.

“If the President wanted to win Osun State election at all cost, I would have been there and we will win it, and there’s nothing the governor can do,” Wike said.

The former Rivers State governor, however, stressed that the Federal Government did not deploy its full political strength during the election.

“There was no Federal might used in Osun. When you see the force and might of the Federal Government, you will know,” he added.

Wike also suggested that Governor Ademola Adeleke of Osun State could ordinarily have been a member of the APC if political circumstances had been different.

Speaking on the 2027 presidential election, the FCT minister expressed confidence in Tinubu’s chances, describing the next election as potentially easier for the President than the 2023 contest.

“2027 elections will be the easiest one for the President compared to 2023.

“This time around, opposition has been crippled, homeless, no feather,” Wike said.

The comments came after Adeleke, who contested the Osun governorship election on the platform of the Accord Party, defeated APC candidate Bola Oyebamiji in the poll.
