Nollywood actress Ronke Ojo, popularly known as Ronke Oshodi-Oke, has defended her decision to accept financial support from politicians, urging Nigerians not to criticise or insult her when they see her associating with political figures.
The actress made this known during an interview with the African A-List podcast, published on YouTube.
When asked whether she would accept money to endorse or support a politician, Ronke said Nigerians should understand that she is only trying to make a living.
“If you see me behind any politician, anybody, just see it as if she is looking for something to put food on the table. Just leave, let her eat. Do not insult or drag me,” she said.
The actress, however, declined to go into details about Nigerian politics, describing the political system as “dirty.”
According to her, Nigerians have the right to vote for whichever candidate they choose.
“Nigeria politics is dirty, so I do not want to talk about it. I am not saying you should not vote for whoever you want to vote for,” she added.
Meanwhile, Ronke Oshodi-Oke recently opened up about a challenging period in her life when she battled a serious health condition and reportedly spent as much as ₦800,000 monthly on medication.
The actress revealed that the cost of her treatment placed significant financial pressure on her, as her monthly medication expenses rose to hundreds of thousands of naira.
She expressed gratitude to God and acknowledged the support she received from several people during the difficult period, including All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain Musiliu Akinsanya, popularly known as MC Oluomo, as well as some of her colleagues.
Ronke said their assistance helped her cope with the financial burden of her treatment during the health crisis.
