2027: Yayi Declares Ogun APC Ready for Victory as Party Mobilises Grassroots in Ijebu
The All Progressives Congress in Ogun State has intensified its mobilisation for the 2027 general elections, with its governorship candidate, Senator Solomon Olamilekan Adeola, popularly known as Adeola Yayi, declaring that the party is fully prepared to retain power in the state.
Thousands of APC supporters and members of Caucus 7202 on Saturday converged on the Dipo Dina International Stadium, Ijebu-Ode, for a mega rally attended by Governor Dapo Abiodun and other party leaders.
The rally, which attracted supporters from the 20 local government areas of Ogun State, provided a major platform for the APC and its support groups to demonstrate their growing grassroots mobilisation ahead of the 2027 elections.
Addressing the gathering, Adeola Yayi expressed appreciation to Abiodun and the various support groups backing his governorship ambition, particularly Caucus 7202, for their commitment to the APC and its candidates.
The governorship candidate said the APC had the structures, organisation and support base required to secure victory in the 2027 elections.
He noted that more than 90 per cent of members of Caucus 7202 were not affiliated with any political party, describing their decision to mobilise for the APC as a demonstration of confidence in the party and its candidates.
Yayi urged the group and other support organisations to widen their mobilisation network and reach more voters across the state before the elections.
The senator also dismissed claims of any working arrangement between him and opposition political parties ahead of 2027, urging APC members to remain vigilant and reject what he described as overtures from opposition elements.
Governor Abiodun, in his remarks, commended the peaceful conduct of the APC’s activities and described the emergence of the party’s candidates, particularly Adeola, as a significant development in Ogun State’s political history.
The governor said the unity and maturity displayed by APC members had strengthened the party and positioned it for victory in the coming elections.
Abiodun expressed confidence in Adeola’s capacity to provide effective leadership if elected governor, citing his experience, exposure and years of public service.
He charged party members and supporters to step up grassroots mobilisation by taking the APC’s message, policies and achievements to every ward and community across Ogun.
The governor also reaffirmed the state’s commitment to delivering two million votes for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 presidential election.
The Ogun State APC Chairman, Chief Yemi Sanusi, also urged members to take the party’s manifesto to the grassroots and educate voters on its programmes, policies and achievements.
Sanusi stressed that effective voter education, sustained grassroots engagement and disciplined mobilisation would be crucial to the APC’s performance in the 2027 elections.
The Director-General of Caucus 7202, Moctar Koiki, said the organisation was an independent political support group established in Ogun State to mobilise support for the APC and its candidates ahead of the elections.
Koiki disclosed that Caucus 7202 had about 180,000 members across the state, with more than 90 per cent of them being non-partisan.
He said the group was committed to mobilising support for President Tinubu, Abiodun’s senatorial ambition and Adeola’s governorship bid.
Koiki added that the organisation would deploy its structures across Ogun’s 20 local government areas to mobilise voters and work for the victory of the APC and its candidates in 2027.
The Ijebu-Ode rally further underscored the APC’s determination to consolidate its political structure in Ogun as the 2027 elections draw closer, with Adeola Yayi emerging as the central figure in the party’s governorship campaign.
