2027: Adebutu Fires Up Ogun PDP Campaign, Says ‘Road to 2027 Has Begun’
The Peoples Democratic Party governorship candidate in Ogun State, Ladi Adebutu, has formally kicked off his campaign for the 2027 governorship election, declaring that the race marks a renewed push to build a better state and restore public confidence in government.
Adebutu made the declaration after the campaign flag-off at the Ake Palace Ground in Abeokuta, where he said more than 10,000 supporters and representatives from the 20 local government areas of the state, alongside PDP candidates for the Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly, gathered to back the party’s campaign.
Describing the mobilisation as “a powerful gathering of our people,” Adebutu said the enthusiasm displayed by supporters had strengthened his resolve ahead of the election.
He said, “Yesterday was more than the flag-off of a campaign. It was a reaffirmation of what we are fighting for and the Ogun we want to build.”
The PDP candidate said his administration, if elected, would place workers’ welfare, accountability in the management of public funds and effective local government administration among its priorities.
Adebutu also promised stronger support for farmers, improved access to quality education for children, safer communities and greater participation of women in governance.
He said the campaign was not about seeking political power for its own sake but about creating an opportunity to serve the people and rebuild their trust in government.
“We are not seeking power for the sake of power. We are seeking the opportunity to serve, to restore trust in government and to deliver a better quality of life for our people,” he said.
Adebutu further pledged to run an administration that would serve residents regardless of their political affiliation, stressing the need for an Ogun State where government works for all.
“Most importantly, an Ogun where government works for everyone, not just a political party,” he said.
The former federal lawmaker said the flag-off marked the beginning of the journey towards the 2027 governorship election, signalling the start of an intensified campaign across the state.
“The road to 2027 has begun,” Adebutu declared.
He ended his message with the campaign slogan, “Relief is here… ITURA DE!”
