A new social circle is quietly making its mark on Lagos’ lifestyle scene, bringing together seven accomplished women whose friendship is built not only around professional achievement, but also around laughter, adventure, sisterhood and the simple pleasure of enjoying life.
Known as the Gbadun Squad, the circle was established in August 2026 by seven women from diverse professional and personal backgrounds, united by friendship, shared values and a common belief that success should leave room for enjoyment.
The members come from fields including law, business, importation, nursing, broadcasting, public administration and military service, with one of them having served as a United States Naval Officer.
But according to one of the members, Hakeemat Adunni Oladeinde, the group was not created simply as another social gathering for accomplished women. Rather, it was born out of a desire to create a genuine space where friendship could flourish away from the pressures of careers, businesses, family responsibilities and everyday life.
Oladeinde described Gbadun Squad as a circle where the women can relax, connect, celebrate one another and create lasting memories while remaining committed to their individual pursuits.
“Gbadun Squad is a vibrant circle of seven accomplished women brought together by friendship, shared values and a simple philosophy: life is meant to be lived, celebrated and enjoyed,” she said.
For the members, the idea behind the Squad challenges the notion that accomplished women must constantly be defined by their careers, businesses, families or societal responsibilities.
Instead, the group embraces a more rounded approach to life in which ambition and achievement can exist alongside friendship, relaxation, travel, good food, music, celebrations and spontaneous moments of fun.
Oladeinde said the diversity of the seven women is one of the elements that makes their bond particularly distinctive, with each member bringing her own personality, experiences and perspective into the circle.
“Each woman brings her own personality, experience and perspective to the group, creating a dynamic that is both entertaining and enriching,” she said.
The women, she added, continue to pursue their respective professional and personal goals while deliberately creating time to enjoy the company of people they value.
From dinners and outings to travel, celebrations and long conversations, the Squad’s activities are centred on genuine companionship rather than appearances.
The name “Gbadun” itself captures the philosophy behind the circle. Drawn from the Yoruba expression associated with enjoyment, the name reflects the members’ belief that hard work and achievement should not come at the expense of living fully.
For Oladeinde and the other members, enjoying life is not presented as an alternative to ambition but as part of a balanced life.
“Achievement and enjoyment are not mutually exclusive,” Oladeinde said. “One can be ambitious and accomplished while still making time to laugh, create memories and enjoy the company of good friends.”
That philosophy appears to sit at the heart of the Squad’s identity as the seven women navigate careers, businesses, family life and other responsibilities while maintaining a strong bond.
Beyond the social outings and celebrations, Gbadun Squad is also built around friendship, authenticity and sisterhood, giving its members a space to step away from the demands of their everyday lives and simply enjoy each other’s company.
The formation of the Squad in August 2026 therefore marks the beginning of what its members hope will become a lasting friendship defined by shared experiences and memorable moments.

For these women, the philosophy is straightforward: work hard, live fully, laugh loudly and, above all, Gbadun!
