Senator Gbenga Daniel Mourns Victims of Lagos–Ibadan Expressway Accident, Prays for Anthony Joshua
Senator representing Ogun East Senatorial District, Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic road accident involving Sagamu-born world heavyweight boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, and other occupants on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway.
In a press statement issued on Monday, the former Ogun State governor described the incident as heartbreaking, particularly the loss of two lives in the crash.
“I have received with deep sadness the report of the tragic road accident involving Sagamu-born world boxing champion, Anthony Joshua, and others on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway earlier today,” the senator said.
Otunba Daniel, speaking on behalf of the people of Ogun East Senatorial District, extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the deceased, praying for divine strength to help them cope with what he described as an irreparable loss.
“I am particularly pained by the loss of two lives in the unfortunate incident. May God grant the families the fortitude to bear this irreparable loss,” he added.
The senator also offered prayers for Anthony Joshua and the other occupant who sustained injuries, wishing them a speedy and full recovery.
Beyond the immediate tragedy, Otunba Daniel noted that the incident once again underscores the urgent need for motorists to exercise greater caution on the highways, while calling for sustained efforts by relevant authorities to enhance road safety across the country.
“This sad occurrence once again highlights the need for greater caution by motorists and sustained efforts by relevant authorities to improve safety on our highways,” he said.
He concluded by praying for the peaceful repose of the souls of the departed.
“May the souls of the departed rest in perfect peace,” the statement read.
