ADAMAWA — In a move that ends weeks of speculation, Governor Ahmadu Fintiri of Adamawa State has officially defected from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Speaking in a statewide broadcast on Friday, Fintiri said the decision was driven by the larger interest of the people of Adamawa, emphasizing his commitment to ensuring their welfare and development.

“This defection is anchored on the desire to ensure the welfare and development of our people. I urge everyone to remain steadfast and give the government the support and understanding necessary to realize the dividends of democracy,” the governor stated.

Fintiri also praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for efforts to revive Nigeria’s economy and pledged to work closely with the federal government to deliver tangible results for Adamawa.

“Our goal remains the growth and development of Adamawa, and this step allows us to collaborate with the federal government to advance our people’s interests,” he added.

This announcement officially confirms Fintiri’s political shift from PDP to APC, marking a new chapter in Adamawa State politics.
