Nigeria’s Super Eagles have denied reports of internal crisis after their 4–0 AFCON victory over Mozambique, insisting the team remains united

AFCON 2025: Super Eagles Dismiss Rift Claims After 4–0 Win Over Mozambique

The Super Eagles of Nigeria have dismissed rumours of internal discord following their emphatic 4–0 victory over Mozambique’s Mambas on Monday night, a result that sealed the three-time African champions’ place in the quarter-finals of the 35th Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Morocco.

Speculation about a possible fallout within the squad surfaced after Victor Osimhen was captured on camera gesturing towards fellow forward Ademola Lookman shortly before a corner kick, triggering widespread conjecture across social and traditional media platforms.

Reacting to the reports on Tuesday evening, Team Administrator Dayo Enebi Achor firmly dismissed the claims, insisting there is no crisis whatsoever within the camp.

“There is no problem whatsoever in our camp. Whatever people saw as a crisis between two brothers was easily resolved a couple of hours later. All is good and we are presently at training,” Achor said.

The clarification comes as the Super Eagles intensify preparations for their quarter-final clash, with officials stressing that the team remains focused, united, and fully committed to its quest for a fourth AFCON title.
