Every 19th of January arrives not merely as a date on the calendar, but as a sacred milestone for our family — a day to pause, reflect, and celebrate a life richly lived. On this special day, we honour our father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Alhaji Munirudeen Adeshina Akanbi Oshinowo, as he marks his 91st birthday.

Born on January 19, 1935, into the respected family of Pa Alimi Oshinbajo Oshinowo and Madam Rabiatu Abeje Oshinowo of Ita Oliwo Compound, Iperu Remo, in present-day Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State, Alhaji Oshinowo’s life story is one of humility, diligence, and unwavering commitment to service.

From his earliest years, he embodied values that would later define his legacy — discipline, integrity, and an unrelenting sense of responsibility to community and family.

Alhaji Oshinowo began his formal education at St. James Standard School, Iperu Remo, where he studied between 1942 and 1950, earning his Standard Six Certificate. At a time when education was a privilege rather than a right, his pursuit of learning set him apart and laid the foundation for a life of purposeful service.

Shortly after completing his education, he answered a calling to nurture young minds, serving as a teacher in Ilaro between 1951 and 1954. Those formative years in the classroom reflected his natural leadership and his belief that education remains the bedrock of societal progress.

His commitment did not go unnoticed. Upon completion, he was promoted to the rank of Area Manager, a testament to both his expertise and the trust placed in him.

His career remains a shining example of how diligence, integrity, and consistency can elevate one from modest beginnings to positions of leadership and influence.
