Amosun’s Supporters Introduces “Identity Card” to Magnify His Dwindling Political Sway
In what looks more like solidarity and efforts to revive his dwindling political influence, the supporters of the former Governor of Ogun State, Ibikunle Amosun have adopted a strategy meant to rekindle his leadership position in the scheme of political activities in the state.
The strategy sees the supporters of the immediate past Senator, representing Ogun Central, adopt a mean of identification.
The former governor roundly failed in his attempted shot at the presidency in the build-up to the 2023 general election.
Recall that Amosun who aspired to become Nigeria’s president under the platform of the All Progressives Congress, APC stepped down for Bola Tinubu who won the party’s primaries with wide margin and went ahead to defeat candidates from oppositions parties in the presidential election.
Also, Amosun’s sour relationship with the incumbent governor of the state, Prince Dapo Abiodun, put him outside the circle of the ruling party’s stakeholders in the state.
With very little or no political activities from his camp following his failed shot at the presidency, his supporters now came up with the identity strategy to boost his sway in the state’s political theater.
“They now put up an e-banner on their social media handles that identify them as Amosun’s supporters.
“The e-banner serves as a means of identifying Amosun’s supporters and sympathizers according to those in the know.
“It is a means of identification being touted as ID (Identity) card in some quarters,” words on the streets say.
Newsheadline247 understands that, aside from the major gain of promoting the influence of Amosun, another gain of the ploy is that it – takes away the leverage of supporters playing different political sides.
