Funeral Held in London for Anthony Joshua’s Associates Who Died in Nigeria Crash
A sombre atmosphere enveloped London on Sunday as relatives, friends and members of the boxing community gathered to mourn two close associates of former two-time world heavyweight champion, Anthony Joshua, whose untimely deaths have sent shockwaves through the sport.
The Janaza (Islamic funeral prayer) for the late Sina Ghami and Abdul Latif Kevin Ayodele was held in London, drawing a large number of mourners who came to pay their final respects.
Ghami and Ayodele lost their lives in a fatal road crash in Nigeria last Monday. Anthony Joshua was also involved in the accident but survived with minor injuries and was later discharged from hospital.
The tragic incident occurred during a visit to Nigeria last month and has since raised wider concerns about road safety and accountability, with legal proceedings now underway.
At the London Central Mosque, a large crowd assembled for the funeral prayers, while Ghami’s burial was scheduled to take place later in the day at Hendon Cemetery and Crematorium.
A wake in honour of both men was also planned for the afternoon at Cavendish Banqueting Hall in North West London.
Joshua, 36, who was born in Watford and raised across North London and Hertfordshire, had been travelling as a passenger in a Lexus SUV that collided with a stationary truck. He received medical treatment and was discharged on New Year’s Eve.
The emotional gathering reflected the profound loss felt within Joshua’s inner circle and the wider boxing community. Read More
