World-renowned heavyweight boxer Anthony Joshua was on Monday involved in a road traffic accident in the Makun area of Ogun State, sparking widespread concern among fans and well-wishers.

Eyewitness accounts said the incident occurred along a busy stretch of the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway, when the vehicle conveying the boxing icon reportedly collided with a stationary truck under circumstances that are yet to be fully determined.

Joshua was said to be travelling in a Lexus SUV with registration number KRD 850 HN at the time of the crash.

Sources at the scene disclosed that the former world champion sustained only minor injuries and was promptly rescued by emergency responders. Tragically, two other occupants of the vehicle were confirmed dead on the spot, throwing the area into panic and grief.

The accident has since triggered an outpouring of reactions on social media, with fans across Nigeria and beyond expressing shock, relief over Joshua’s survival, and condolences to the families of the deceased.

As of the time of filing this report, official confirmation was yet to be issued by the Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement (TRACE) Command.
