APC Lagos Applauds Tinubu’s Envoy Appointments, Declares “Nigeria Is Rising Again”
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has applauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s latest approval of a fresh batch of ambassadorial nominees, describing the move as a decisive step toward restoring Nigeria’s international stature.
In a statement on Saturday, the party’s spokesperson, Seye Oladejo, said the appointments signal the end of years of “diplomatic inertia” and the beginning of a new era of strategic and assertive foreign engagement.
Oladejo noted that the nominees represent “a deliberate blend of expertise, patriotism, and diplomatic depth,” adding that the President’s selections reflect a clear intention to reposition Nigeria as a confident and proactive actor in global politics.
According to him, the ambassadors are expected to vigorously promote Nigeria’s interests abroad, enhance bilateral partnerships, counter negative global narratives, and pursue vital economic, technological, and security collaborations that would directly benefit citizens.
“The world will no longer relate with a hesitant or reactive Nigeria but one prepared to assert itself with dignity, clarity, and strategic purpose,” the statement read.
The party spokesperson argued that Tinubu’s ongoing domestic reforms—particularly in security, economic management, and governance—would form the foundation for a more coherent and impactful foreign policy.
He added that with renewed diplomatic energy, Nigeria is now better positioned to reclaim influence across regional and continental bodies, especially ECOWAS and the African Union (AU).
Oladejo highlighted key priority areas the envoys are expected to advance, including improved counter-terrorism cooperation, stronger economic diplomacy, support for energy transition initiatives favourable to Nigeria, and enhanced consular services for Nigerians in the diaspora.
“For years, Nigeria’s global standing was undermined by inconsistency and lack of vision,” he said.
“Today, the country is projecting a unified foreign policy message backed by leadership that fully grasps its international obligations.”
Expressing confidence in the nominees, Oladejo said they are capable of helping Nigeria secure strategic, political, and economic advantages while elevating the country’s profile in global diplomatic circles.
“The era of timid foreign policy is over. Nigeria is rising again, deliberately, confidently, and irreversibly,” he added.
The ambassadorial nominees are now awaiting Senate confirmation before deployment.
