Twenty-seven members of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Rivers State House of Assembly have reportedly defected to the All Progressives Congress, APC due to a protracted crisis within the state assembly.

The lawmakers who were formerly PDP members cited division within the party as the primary reason for their defection to the APC.

Information gathered shows that the affected lawmakers are said to be the ones loyal to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

According to reports, the lawmakers held plenary around 8am on Monday where the decision was taken.
