Dele Momodu Pledges Full Support for ADC Presidential Candidate in 2027

Veteran journalist and ADC chieftain Dele Momodu declares he will fully back whoever emerges as the party’s 2027 presidential candidate—whether Atiku Abubakar, Peter Obi, Rotimi Amaechi or Aminu Tambuwal—emphasising loyalty to the African Democratic Congress.

Dele Momodu Declares: ADC Loyalty First—I’ll Fully Back Atiku, Obi, Amaechi or Tambuwal in 2027

Prominent journalist, publisher and chieftain of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Dele Momodu, has made a strong commitment to party unity ahead of the 2027 presidential election, vowing to throw his full weight behind whoever emerges as the ADC’s flag bearer—regardless of personal ties or preferences.

Speaking during an appearance on News Central’s Politics HQ programme last night (Thursday, January 15, 2026), Momodu emphasized that his allegiance lies squarely with the ADC and not with any individual aspirant.

He listed four heavyweight politicians he would wholeheartedly support if chosen by the party: former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s 2023 presidential candidate Peter Obi, former Minister of Transportation Rotimi Amaechi, and ex-Sokoto State Governor Aminu Tambuwal.

“I’m very close to every one of them. Peter Obi has been to my house in Lagos, London, and Accra. I have also been to his house in Lagos. I know him very well and he knows me very well.

“We have mutual respect for each other but I’m telling you that it’s not about who I want, my allegiance is to the party. If today, ADC decided to pick Peter Obi, I will support him with everything I have.

“If it’s Tambuwal, Amaechi, I will support them and if it’s Atiku; it’s even sweater because already I have been with him,” Momodu said.

The statement underscores Momodu’s growing influence within the ADC and signals the party’s positioning as a potential platform for opposition heavyweights seeking an alternative to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2027.

Known for his close relationships across Nigeria’s political divide, Momodu’s pledge highlights the possibility of a unified front among prominent opposition figures under the ADC banner—should internal consensus be reached on a single candidate.

His comments come amid ongoing speculation about post-2023 realignments, coalition talks, and the search for a viable opposition vehicle to challenge President Bola Tinubu’s expected re-election bid.

As one of Nigeria’s most vocal and connected media personalities turned politicians, Dele Momodu’s unequivocal commitment to party discipline could play a key role in shaping the ADC’s strategy and public perception ahead of 2027. Read More
