It was a-free-for-all and uneasy calm at Isan Ekiti, the hometown of Ekiti State Governor Dr. Kayode Fayemi on Sunday as a get-together party organised for Leaders and executive members of APC across the State by the Governor turned uproar.
It was gathered that, Governor Fayemi who had invited Leaders and Executive Members of the Party for the end of year celebration was addressing his Guests when fact of how some Party Leaders and Appointees of the Governor have been short-changing all party Executive Members across the State.
Governor Fayemi was quoted to have explained to the People on how he had directed the Director-General of Small and Medium Enterprises SMEs, Mr. Kayode Fasae (JIMLAS) to pay between 250,000 Naira-1million Naira to atleast five executive Members of the Party across 177 Wards in Ekiti State through COVID-19 palliative fund account.
The Governor was also reported to have let the Cart out of Bag on how he had instructed the payment of monthly stipend of 20,000 Naira to all Party Excos across the State for the past three years through a particular account opened for remittance of funds being deducted from political officeholders on monthly basis with the former SSG, Mr. Biodun Oyebanji, Chief of Staff, Mr. Biodun Omoleye and State APC Chairman, Barr. Paul Omotoso as Signatories.
It was at the middle of Governor Fayemi’s address that, some party Leaders interrupted him and demanded more clarity on his claims.
Governor Fayemi, however called the D.G, SMEs, Mr. Fasae to lay credence to his claims when People started throwing satchet water and other materials at the People on the high Table in disagreement with the claims that, he had paid many of them between 250,000 Naira and 1million Naira in the past.
It was gathered that, the Leaders of the Party and Government in the State have to scamper for their lives when the atmosphere became so tense, insecure and disgraceful.
In a chat with newsmen at Isan Ekiti some party Leaders who attended the event had described the outcome of what they tagged as “a supposed family meeting as unfortunate, disgraceful and shameful”.
They blamed the development on the grievance being nursed by majority of party members against Governor Fayemi on his purported adoption of Mr. Biodun Oyebanji as his anointed Candidate for APC in 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.
The party Leaders argued that, any further attempt to continue to promote unpopular Politician on the Party by using State resources to support and campaign for him will continue to spell more doom for the Party.
They however called on the Presidency and National Leadership of the Party to take over the affairs of the Party from the present state government, if the party is ready to win the 2022 governorship election in Ekiti State.
According to them, though the Governor had again at the forum told the APC Delegates and other Leaders that, he has not anointed any Politician in his succession plans adding that, all Delegates are free to choose and vote for the most popular Aspirant of their choice.
Investigations revealed that, a series of meeting on damaged control have been holding by the state government since sunday night on how to force the Delegates in Ekiti State to vote for the purported Governor Fayemi’s anointed Candidate during the Jan. 22, 2022 APC primary election.
