Ogun State’s former governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun has reportedly joined the 2023 presidential race.
Amosun who is currently the chairman Senate Committee on Capital Market said he will formally declare his intention on May 5 at the Musa Yar’Adua Centre in Abuja.
This was contained in a letter read by Senate President Ahmad Lawan at plenary.
Amosun is the third Senator of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to join the presidential race.
Previously, Senators Rochas Okorocha and Orji Uzor Kalu had announced their bid for the presidency earlier.
Politicians from the Southern Region of Nigeria have been clamoring for shift of power to the zone.
National Leader of the party, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu and incumbent Vice President Yemi Osinbajo are among the prominent contenders in the race.
