Ex-VP Atiku Advocates Anti-APC Multi-Party Coalition, Affirms Commitment to PDP

Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has expressed his commitment to forming a multi-party coalition aimed at opposing the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 elections. However, he emphasized that he will not leave the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).

In a statement titled “Atiku Remains a Bonafide Member of PDP,” issued in Abuja on Saturday night, the former PDP presidential candidate condemned the growing speculation regarding his potential defection from the party.

The Atiku Media team stated: “We have observed that some news sources are spreading unverified information suggesting that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar is abandoning the Peoples Democratic Party. We wish to clarify that these reports about Atiku defecting to another party are completely unfounded and lack any logical basis.

“Atiku Abubakar has consistently called for a coalition of opposition political parties in Nigeria ahead of the 2027 general election, with the goal of ousting the incompetent and detrimental All Progressives Congress, in order to provide Nigerians with a new lease on life.

“Furthermore, Atiku is still advocating for a strong coalition that would include all opposition parties, including the PDP. Therefore, any claims that he is leaving the PDP are baseless and contrary to the objectives of the large coalition he is actively promoting alongside other prominent political leaders in the country.

“We want to reiterate unequivocally that Atiku Abubakar remains a principal and dedicated member of the PDP, the main opposition party. Any insinuations to the contrary are designed to confuse Nigerians about the extent of the coalition that is working to rescue Nigeria from the APC’s grip.” Read More
