By Newsheadline247 Investigations Desk

In a disturbing tale of extortion, betrayal, and life-threatening harassment, a Nigerian family finds itself at the mercy of individuals allegedly connected to powerful political forces.

At the heart of this crisis is Mrs. Oluwadamilola Adegbesote, a young wife and new mother, whose life and that of her family have reportedly been endangered over a failed business transaction involving her brother, Mr. Adebowale Adegbesote.

A Simple Deal Gone Deadly

According to a sworn affidavit and supporting police report obtained by Newsheadline247, Mr. Adegbesote entered into an informal financial agreement to assist in the export of scrap vehicles from the United States to Nigeria.

The transaction, he claims, was coordinated on behalf of a third party, Seyi, who allegedly absconded with the funds. Mr. Adegbesote has maintained that he neither benefited from the funds nor intended to defraud, and has since made attempts to recover the money. But the individuals demanding repayment have shown no patience for explanations.

Threats Escalate to Violence

WhatsApp conversations between Mr. Adegbesote and one Ademola Yusuf—obtained exclusively by this publication—show a pattern of menacing threats and clear indications of physical harm.

“You’re not hard to find… Don’t make this worse,” Ademola texted. “If you don’t run me my money by the end of this month, I’m pulling up. And I promise, it won’t end well.”

The threats escalated further. In a separate exchange, an unidentified individual messaged Mrs. Adegbesote directly, threatening her newborn child, husband, and her life.

“Madam, you think say we dey play abi?…You don forget how much dem dey sell body parts. Don’t worry we go harvest your organs. We will go through any lengths to recover our Money back. We fit use you, your husband, and your child recoup our money. We don’t play!” the message read.

These statements, combined with an alarming level of knowledge about Mrs. Adegbesote’s movements—such as her relocation from Okota to Lekki—indicate that she and her family may be under active surveillance.

Political Connections Raise Alarming Questions

What has turned this case from a simple business dispute into a matter of national concern is the alleged political backing behind the threats.

Newsheadline247 has obtained credible documents linking Mr. Ademola Yusuf, the individual making the threats, to Hon. Maryam Yusuf Aladi—his mother and a sitting Deputy Chief Whip of the 10th Kwara State House of Assembly.

Hon. Aladi is a prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), a former Vice President of the National Council of Women Society of Nigeria, and a known supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima.

Observers warn that the involvement of a figure of Hon. Aladi’s stature raises concerns of impunity and obstruction of justice. According to legal experts, the family’s fear is justified, as they may not receive the protection of the Nigerian authorities due to Hon. Aladi’s political reach.

Cry for International Protection

Mrs. Adegbesote has now filed a police report in Lagos and raised the alarm publicly. In herofficial statement, she expressed that she fears not just for herself, but for her brother, infantdaughter and husband.

“They are stalking me. I’m so scared. How can they be threatening to harm my little baby? If they ever lay hands on Adebowale, they’ll kill him” she lamented in a message to her close friend, later shared with police.

Legal affidavits submitted on her behalf note that she has been “constantly harassed and threatened” and highlight the political influence of her harassers as a major reason she cannot safely seek protection within Nigeria.

What Comes Next?

As investigations begin and the matter garners public attention, calls are mounting for lawenforcement to act independently of political interference and to ensure the safety of Mrs. Adegbesote and her family. Human rights groups have also urged the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activity to credible news outlets, citing police inaction.

Meanwhile, the Adegbesote family remains in hiding—living in fear, with a newborn caught in the crossfire of a dangerous power play.
