Food Security: Federal Government, stakeholders join forces to enhance poultry production
The stakeholders discussed key issues such as value chain development, policy advocacy, inclusive finance, capacity building, and public-private partnerships
The Federal Government and stakeholders are collaborating to increase the productivity of Nigeria’s poultry sector.
Winnie Lai-Solarin, Director of the Department of Animal Husbandry Services at the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security (FMAFS), made this announcement during a meeting with members of the Multi-Stakeholders Platform for Poultry Value Chain.
Lai-Solarin emphasized the importance of relevant stakeholders joining the platform to establish cooperative partnerships that would drive innovative developments in the country’s poultry industry.
The meeting, organized by AFOS Foundation, aimed to encourage collaboration, knowledge sharing, and collective problem-solving to promote growth and development in the sector.
Lai-Solarin affirmed the Federal Government’s dedication to increasing productivity across the nation’s agricultural value chain.
“The poultry sector will be among the most prioritized. We are committed to working together to overcome the challenges facing our country. This meeting marks the beginning of a new era of collaboration and cooperation,” Lai-Solarin said.
Professor Udo Herbert, the Registrar of the Nigeria Institute of Animal Science (NIAS), emphasized the importance of addressing identified gaps and challenges in the poultry value chain.
He called for collective efforts from all stakeholders to create a platform aimed at optimizing productivity.
He stated further that the institute is prepared to take a significant role in addressing the challenges faced by those involved in the value chain.
