FX Crisis Delaying Ambassadorial Appointments, Says Foreign Affairs Minister
“…the foreign exchange crisis and other factors also played a role. As a result, there was no need to send ambassadors out there when there were no funds for their activities”
Minister of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Yusuf M. Tuggar has revealed that the appointment of new ambassadors to represent Nigeria in various countries has been delayed due to a lack of funding.
Amb. Tuggar made this disclosure on Tuesday in Abuja during the presentation of his ministry achievement presentation at the ongoing Ministerial Sectorial Press Briefing series organized by the Ministry of Information and National Orientation.
According to the Minister, “When the present administration came on board, our target was to remove fuel subsidy.
“The idea was to stop subsidizing consumption and start subsidizing production. It was a hard decision, but we have started seeing the gains.”
Tuggar however, said with the emergence of cryptocurrency and Binance, they started undermining the gains we recorded.
“Additionally, the foreign exchange crisis and other factors also played a role. As a result, there was no need to send ambassadors out there when there were no funds for their activities. But I can assure you, Mr. President is working on it”, he said.
