Gov Aiyedatiwa Hosts South West ASELGON August 8 In Akure, To Discuss Food Scarcity, Insecurity
The conference will focus on addressing insecurity and food scarcity in the South West Region of Nigeria.
The Governor of Ondo State, Hon Lucky Orimisan Aiyedatiwa, will host the South West Delegates’ conference of the Association of Ex-Local Government Chairmen of Nigeria (ASELGON) in Akure on Thursday, August 8th.
According to a release signed by the South West Vice President of the Association, Hon. Abdul Rasheed Abiodun Mafe, the conference will address the issue of insecurity and food scarcity in the South West Region of Nigeria. A communique will be issued and sent to the six Western Governors.
Experts in modern agriculture have been invited to deliver a presentation on addressing food scarcity in Nigeria, particularly in the South West, where the late Chief Obafemi Awolowo used cocoa proceeds to build Cocoa House in Ibadan.
The association will take the opportunity of the conference to appoint Governor Aiyedatiwa as the Patron, making him the first sitting Governor to hold this position.
Hon. Mafe stated that Governor Aiyedatiwa’s appointment as Patron is due to his easy accessibility to the people of Ondo State.
He also noted that the people of Ondo State have experienced significant improvements during Governor Aiyedatiwa’s short time in office.
The South West Delegates’ conference follows the successful National Delegates’ conference held in Abuja on Friday, June 7, 2024, at the Women Development Centre, Abuja.
All former Chairmen across the Six States are expected to attend the conference.
