NBC President Idowu Visits Senator Gbenga Daniel, Receives 30-Seater Bus
The newly elected President of the Nigerian Baptist Convention (NBC), Rev. Dr. David Olusola Idowu, has paid a courtesy visit to Senator Otunba Engr. Gbenga Daniel, the Asiwaju of Remo Christians, as part of efforts to strengthen engagement with prominent stakeholders in the Christian community.
During the visit, Idowu commended Daniel for his consistent support for the Christian community, describing him as a “rare bridge-builder” whose gestures had continued to strengthen the church across Remoland and beyond.
The visit also featured a major intervention for the Abraham Tabernacle Chorale, with Daniel donating a 30-seater Toyota bus to the music ministry.
The vehicle was formally presented to the chorale by Idowu on behalf of Daniel.
The donation is expected to provide significant logistical support for the chorale, particularly during ministrations, conventions, conferences and outreach programmes within and outside Sagamu.
The NBC president was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Pastor Mrs. Comfort Idowu; Deacon Joseph Abiodun Oloyede, Vice President, Finance and Investment, NBC; Rev. Royal Ify, Director, Global Missions Board, NBC; Rev. Dr. Solomon Oyewale Oyeniyi, President, Ogun Baptist Conference; and Rev. Dr. Israel Olubii Olaniyan, Resident Pastor, Abraham’s Tabernacle International Worship Centre, Sagamu.
Idowu’s engagement with Daniel comes against the backdrop of the latter’s longstanding involvement with Christian activities in Remoland, including the annual Asiwaju of Remo Christians Choir Festival hosted at Abraham’s Tabernacle in Sagamu. The choir festival has been associated with Daniel for years and is aimed at promoting choral music and Christian fellowship.
Abraham’s Tabernacle Chorale, the music ministry of Abraham’s Tabernacle International Worship Centre in Sagamu, Ogun State, operates under the resident pastorate of Olaniyan and has participated in Baptist conventions, conferences and interdenominational programmes.
The bus donation is expected to ease transportation challenges faced by the chorale and improve its ability to participate in programmes and gospel outreaches beyond its home base in Sagamu.
The Nigerian Baptist Convention, one of Nigeria’s major Baptist bodies, has a nationwide network of churches and institutions and maintains programmes spanning evangelism, theological education, healthcare and community development.
Idowu assumed the leadership of the Convention in 2026 following the transition from the administration of Rev. Dr. Israel Adelani Akanji. Reports on the leadership transition identified Idowu as the incoming president ahead of his emergence at the Convention’s 113th Annual Convention-in-Session.
