Nigeria’s former military dictator, Ibrahim Babangida has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari over the way he’s been handling corruption issues in the country.
Babangida, the acclaimed military president, boasted that he fought graft better than the current Buhari administration which is under a democratic dispensation.
The former head of state expressed this in an interview with ARISE TV on Friday.
The retired general said individuals who worked under him were saints compared to those in power.
IBB recalled how he sacked a former military governor who embezzled N313,000.
Babangida fumed that those who stole billions are walking freely under Buhari.
“From what I read, from analysis, I think we are saints when compared to what is happening under a democratic dispensation, he said.
“Today, those who have stolen billions and are in court are now parading themselves on the streets. Who else is better in fighting corruption?”
Babangida, who annulled the 1993 presidential election, has been severally accused of corruption.
However, no known formal charges have been filed against him by successive democratic governments including the administration of former President Olusegun Obasanjo who had in the past vehemently criticized IBB over alleged gross corruption
Neither has any known groups or individuals come up with charges against the controversial military ruler.
