Nana Otedola, wife of billionaire businessman Femi Otedola, has set the record straight on widespread assumptions surrounding her nationality and ethnic background.
Speaking in a video alongside her daughter, Temi Otedola, Nana dismissed claims that she is Ghanaian, stressing that her roots are firmly traced to Abeokuta in Ogun State.
Addressing the long-standing speculation, she stated that she proudly identifies as an Egba woman and considers that an important part of her Nigerian heritage.
“To clear the room for everybody, I’m an Egba woman, and that’s the part I’ll gladly claim as a Nigerian. I am not a Ghanaian; my roots are in Abeokuta,” she said.
Nana further revealed that although her ancestral home is in Ogun State, she was born and raised in Kaduna State, where she spent nearly two decades of her life.
“I was born in Kaduna and lived there for almost two decades,” she explained.
According to her, growing up in different parts of the country may have contributed to the confusion surrounding her identity. However, she maintained that her ethnic background remains unmistakably Egba.
She also shared details about her full name, revealing that she is known as Nana Fatima, a name bestowed on her by her grandfather during her Sunnah ceremony.
“I go by the name Nana Fatima, given to me on my Sunnah by my grandfather,” she added.
For years, social media users have speculated that Nana Otedola has Ghanaian roots, a claim she has now publicly debunked while reaffirming her Nigerian heritage.
