Ugwumba Uche Nwosu, son-in-law and a former Chief of Staff to the Imo State Governor, Rochas Okorocha, has been declared the winner of the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship primary election.
Mr. Nwosu married to governor Okorocha’s daughter may, after all, succeed his father-in-law if eventually, he wins the Imo state governorship election.
Nwosu was announced as the APC candidate for the 2019 governorship election in the state.
The former Chief of Staff polled 269, 524 to defeat eight other contestants.
Chairman of the Imo State APC governorship primaries, Brig. Gen. Ibrahim Agbabiaka (rtd), who made the announcement of the results at about 3.30 am Sunday morning, said that all the nine aspirants contested in the governorship election.
Nwosu closest rival was Chuks Ololo, who polled 6428 votes, while the Deputy Governor. Eze Madumere got 2, 646 votes
Agbabiaka lauded the conduct of the members of the party, who painstakingly went through the exercise, despite the hiccups that attended the first one.
