Nollywood star Iyabo Ojo shuts down stereotypes about single mothers, crediting faith, resilience, and perseverance for raising successful children and building a thriving life as a single parent

Iyabo Ojo Defends Single Motherhood: “My Kids Succeeded, My Life Is Better Than Expected”
Renowned Nollywood actress Iyabo Ojo has passionately defended single motherhood, rejecting societal stereotypes and proving that success is defined by personal growth, happy and accomplished children, and stability—not marital status.
In a now-viral video, the actress, who raised her children alone from a young age, shared her journey of triumph over challenges, attributing her achievements to unwavering faith in God, resilience, and sheer perseverance.
Ojo revealed that both her daughter and son have succeeded in life, and her own story has turned out far better than many ever predicted.
“There’s confusion in their midst. I’m the president-general of single mothers because my daughter has succeeded, my son has succeeded, and my life is better,” she declared.
The actress opened up about the real struggles of single parenting, admitting there were times she felt overwhelmed, exhausted, and uncertain about the future.
“When you’re raising children at a young age, you almost run mad. There were times I didn’t know which road to pass. If they told me I’d be a landlady in Lekki, I’d say it was a lie. It wasn’t me, it was God,” she said.

Iyabo Ojo also touched on relationships, emphasizing that both men and women make choices in marriage, and expressed deep admiration for fathers who take responsibility for their children.
“Na man go leave you, na man go marry you. Na woman go leave you, na woman go marry you. Put your faith in God and see whether God will not do it for you. I easily fall in love with fathers that take care of their children,” she added.
Her candid message has resonated widely, inspiring many single parents and sparking conversations about resilience, faith, and redefining success beyond societal expectations. Read More
