Patron of the Tinubu National Think-Tank, Jelili Amusan, has officially declared his intention to contest the 2027 governorship election in Ogun State under the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Speaking in Abeokuta on Thursday, Amusan said his ambition is driven by a desire to contribute meaningfully to the state’s development.
“My intention to join the governorship race as the Patron of Tinubu National Think-Tank and Founder of the JKA Support Group for PBAT Till 2031 Movement is greatly inspired by the PBAT Renewed Hope Agenda,” he stated.
The former two-term House of Representatives member, who represented Odeda, Obafemi-Owode, and Abeokuta North Federal Constituency, emphasized his readiness to sustain the achievements of the current administration.
“The objective is to sustain the achievements of the current administration and ensure that our people continue to experience the true dividends of democracy,” Amusan added.
Amusan, who has previously contested twice for the Ogun Central Senatorial seat and twice for the governorship, highlighted his grassroots connections and political resilience. He assured that his campaign would strictly adhere to the Electoral Act and APC constitution.
Beyond politics, Amusan pointed to his decades of private sector experience as proof of his administrative capacity, financial discipline, and strategic planning skills. He pledged to prioritize industrial expansion, entrepreneurship, education, security, agriculture, healthcare, and infrastructure development.
He unveiled plans for initiatives such as “Operation Feed Ogun State” to boost food security and emphasized his vision to reposition Ogun as a leading economic hub in Nigeria.
