The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Sunday, declared the candidate of the All Progressive Congress (APC), Ahmed Usman Ododo, winner of the Kogi State governorship election.

Ododo, who was declared governor-elect following his victory at the polls, won by polling the highest number of votes 446, 337.while the closest rival, Muri Ajaka, candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), came second  with a total vote of 259,053.

The candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Dino Melaye, came a distant third position with a total vote of 46, 362 votes.

A total of 18 candidates took part in the election.

With this pronouncement, Ododo will succeed outgoing governor Yayah Bello, also of the APC, in the state.
