Taraba Governor Agbu Kefas declares the state “100 per cent” APC and says residents will vote for President Bola Tinubu in the 2027 election
Kefas Declares Taraba ‘100% APC’, Says State Will Vote Tinubu in 2027
Taraba State Governor, Agbu Kefas, has declared the state “100 per cent” for the All Progressives Congress ahead of the 2027 presidential election, saying residents will vote for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Kefas made the declaration on Wednesday after meeting with President Tinubu at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, where he said federal interventions in security, education, healthcare and infrastructure had strengthened support for the President across the state.
The governor, who described himself as the leader of the APC in Taraba, said he visited the Presidential Villa to welcome Tinubu and condole with him over the recent Nigerian Air Force aircraft crash in Ondo State.
The crash, which claimed the lives of military personnel and other citizens, was described by Kefas as a national tragedy that required solidarity with the President, the Armed Forces and the families of the victims.
“I’m also the leader of the party in my state, so I came to welcome the President home and also to condole him over the incident of the crash of the Nigerian Air Force plane and also the officers and men and citizens of this country that were involved in the crash”, Kefas said.
The governor subsequently turned to the political situation in Taraba and the performance of the Tinubu administration, arguing that federal interventions had made a visible difference in the lives of residents.
Kefas said the collaboration between his administration and the Federal Government had enabled residents to benefit from programmes and support in key sectors.
“You can see that I’m on ground, we’re in charge. All the intervention, all the support from the President, the people are feeling it, from security to free education to healthcare system to infrastructure”, he said.
According to the governor, the Federal Government’s support had convinced residents that Tinubu was responding to their needs through the state administration.
Kefas said the people of Taraba had consequently assured him of their support for Tinubu when Nigerians return to the polls in 2027.
“So the people have no doubt, and they’ve given all the assurance that Mr President is reaching out to them through me, and for that reason, they are going to vote for Mr President”, the governor said.
His declaration comes as political parties and their leaders intensify preparations for the 2027 general elections, with governors and other political actors increasingly making public statements about their preferred presidential candidates and the strength of their respective parties across the states.
Kefas’s comments represent his stated position as APC leader in Taraba and his assessment of the level of support for Tinubu in the state. The eventual outcome of the 2027 presidential election will be determined by voters at the polls.
